Committed to Live Music on 6th Street
We have live music 7 nights a week, and feature a solo musician at lunchtime on Sunday, Wednesday & Thursday, with no cover charge ever.
We have a traditional Irish Tune Session (or “seisún” in Irish) each Sunday evening around 9pm, and an Open Mic Night “Monday Mic at B. D. Riley’s with Johnny Fargo” each Monday showcasing the best in emerging local talent.
The Suzanne Smith Band holds forth on Tuesdays, starting at 7pm, while on Wednesdays we have a variety of solo performers and the music starts at 10pm, right after Pub Quiz. Check our front page calendar for the latest details.
B. D. Riley’s books other live acts on Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights, with bands scheduled to play from 8pm to 11pm on Thursdays, (closing time at midnight) and 10:30pm until 1:45 on Fridays and Saturdays, with closing time at 2am. We have a high-performance house PA with suspended main speakers and a quality floor monitor, as well as a few mics and stands if needed.
All bands are paid a guaranteed negotiated rate for performing, and are welcome to sell merchandise and/or put out a tip jar for additional revenue. We are graced with many more bands than dates available, but are still on the lookout for new talent. You should know we generally book three to four months in advance, and WE BOOK LOCAL (Austin) BANDS ONLY, NO TOURING OR OUT OF TOWN ACTS. Sorry, such inquiries will not receive a response.
If you’d like to play the Pub (and if you are part of an Austin-based act) please feel free to send us a message with your website or location of MP3 files to give us a sample of your music. Please also let us know where else you play, and give a general description of your music. Of course, you can drop off a CD and or a press kit at the pub if you’d like as well, just be sure the CD is marked with your band name and contact info.
We get a LOT of CDs, so don’t be surprised if we don’t get back to you. If there seems to be a fit, we’ll call or email for more information. Take a moment to read our Band Policies, and be sure you understand them–they are part of doing business with us and playing live at the pub.
We would appreciate your comments on our live music. Please contact us and let us know what you think!
